Youth for Christ KwaZulu-Natal (YFC / KZN) was founded in May 1985 and is affiliated to its national body, YFC South Africa, which was established in 1946. The primary objective is to develop children and youth holistically, i.e. develop them mentally, socially, physically and spiritually.

The communities served by YFC / KZN are mostly townships, informal settlements and peri-rural areas where there is high unemployment and HIV infection, sexual abuse and rape, domestic violence, poverty and a lack of basic amenities.

Some of the current needs and issues addressed through the 6 projects at YFC / KZN are: homeless and poverty stricken children, HIV and AIDS, Orphan and Vulnerable Children, personal development, gender empowerment, sexuality and reproductive health, unemployment, spirituality, leadership development and team building.

YFC / KZN reaches out to the unpopular, the somewhat unlovable groups like children and youth on the streets, young people in schools and communities that are on the edges of society. YFC / KZN projects are designed to address and work towards The UN Millennium Development Goals.
