The Muslim Refugee Association of South Africa (MRASA) is non-profit organization (NPO) aimed at uplifting the standards of refugees, religiously, socially, morally and academically. The organization comprises of a dedicated and committed team of professionals who saw the need to provide clear and useful information resources and create ways of how refugees should stay and work together with the local communities.

Our Mission Statement and Vision:
To identify the capability of refugees and initiate a closer and friendly relationship between the locals and the refugees so that all parties can equally play their respective roles in taking part in developing the communities they are living in and to prevent the repeat of the xenophobic attacks which affected the country as a whole.

Our main objectives are to:
– Offer Employment advice and network with local communities and businesses to supply a database of refugees looking for employment and their skills.
– Provide free English, Arabic and Islamic study courses.
– Offer computer application skills.
– Provide specific books, aimed at uplifting the community, teaching refugees about their own cultures, religions and general academic textbooks.
– Provide HIV and Aids counselling and training to refugees and the local community.
– Provide life skills training in fields such as Tailoring, Brick making, printing, dress making, etc.
– Offer specialist Guidance and Assistance in fields regarding legal matters, peer pressure, application for documents, CVs, financial advice, health advice, with experts in these fields.
– Participate in academic, stakeholder and community meetings, engage and participate in community uplifting projects and create joint partnerships with special interest partners.
– To assist refugee parents with scholastic material for their school going children.
