Natal Settlers is a non-profit organization that cares for 400 residents, made up predominately of the aged, children severely affected by cerebral palsy, the frail, mentally and physically challenged young adults, those with dementia, alzheimer patients and in a few instances, the destitute.
Founded in 1949 on nine acres of land to provide safe environment for retired folk of large corporate companies in Durban, it rapidly expanded from twenty residents to the four hundred residents who currently reside on the premises. Complete nursing facilities were implemented and it became a fully fledged nursing home for individuals ranging between the ages of 6 -102 years of age.
The Home finds itself having to provide for most of its residents needs, as a large majority only receive a social pension, so any monetary contributions, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated by the Home and its residents. We are also always looking for things like adult disposable nappies of all sizes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, deodorant, roll-on, single-bed linen, pillows, blankets, curtains, single-bed mattresses, mattress protectors, clothing, microwaves, microwavable dishes, kettles, toasters, irons, electric frying pans, washing machines, tumble dryers, fridges and emergency lights.
We also welcome donations of fresh fruit and vegetables, breakfast cereals and any other foodstuffs that would bring variety in diet to our residents.
