Just like the Movember for men, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic is doing its own doggy version to raise awareness of prostate and testicular diseases in animals! At the Mdzananda Animal Clinic we encourage castration of male dogs. Prevention is better than cure and by castrating your dog it has got a very small chance of getting prostate problems and a zero percent chance of getting testicular cancer. Unless a dog owner has firm plans to use his animal in a formal breeding program, the best prevention strategy for prostate and testicular problems is castration.
The male staff members at the Mdzananda Animal Clinic (7 in total) will be growing their mustaches in November for this cause. At the same time they will be raising funds for the Mdzananda Animal Clinic. We are urging the public to get involved by sponsoring them as they grow their mustaches. You can sponsor one or all of the “boys” by donating a once off donation or an amount per mm of growth.
Francois Potgieter, the Mdzananda Animal Clinic Hospital Manager has taken this challenge to the next level. “My personal target is to reach R60 000 to buy a surgical instrument sterilizer (an autoclave) to speed up and give better sterilization to all our surgical kits”, he says. He has set up a page on Back a Buddy where you can sponsor him www.backabuddy.co.za/francois-mo
Apart from our staff members we have encouraged some of our supporters to also grow their Mo for this cause. Individuals of the public who would like to grow their Mo to raise awareness of animal prostate and testicular cancer and to fundraise for the Mdzananda Animal Clinic can contact marcelle@mdzananda.co.za to get a fundraising form.
To sponsor one or all of the Mdzananda boys make a once off donation to our bank account or pledge your donation per mm of growth by contacting marcelle@mdzananda.co.za. Follow us on our facebook page (facebook/MdzanandaAnimalClinic) or twitter (@mdzananda) where regular pictures of the team and Francois will be posted as they progress from “boys to men”.
