Starfish Greathearts Foundation brings voice to unsung heroes who care for children orphaned or vulnerable in South Africa by working in partnership with corporate South Africa.
This unique event offers corporate staff and careworkers an opportunity to collaborate in meaningful teambuilding tasks, giving each a window into the world in which they live and work. The team build day is aimed at bridging diversity and finding common purpose through a process of storytelling.
Mandela Day (Friday, 18 July 2014) is about striking meaning at the heart of the individual, about contributing and impacting one another in a positive way. On Mandela Day a group of 30 corporate employees are given the opportunity of being transported to a community based organisation (CBO) supported by Starfish Greathearts Foundation. These 30 participants will be grouped and teamed up with 30 careworkers from this CBO to experience a day of activities and tasks.
Each activity, task and team-building element is motivated by the spirit of the late Nelson Mandela. This opportunity illuminates why Mandela Day is more relevant and necessary in bridging gaps between South African people now more than ever.
