WhizzKids United

Africaid Trust – WhizzKids United is a non-profit organisation based in South Africa which envisions using football (soccer) to deliver effective HIV / AIDS prevention, care, treatment and support. Since 2006, its primary programme has been WhizzKids United, a comprehensive youth development and sexual health programme which uses the game of football as an educational medium. To date over 20,000 kids have been engaged through the ‘On the Ball’ school-based intervention, with an attendance rate near 100%.

The programme has received numerous accolades and has been showcased at AIDS conferences around the world. In 2010 the organisation received the prize for Best Sport for Health project at the Global Sports Forum in Barcelona, Spain, and was also awarded one of twenty Football for Hope Centres to be built by FIFA throughout Africa as part of the social legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The WhizzKids United programme is directly committed to two of the eight Millennium Development Goals: Combating HIV / AIDS (Goal 6) and promoting gender equality (Goal 3).

This relatively small organisation has already made its mark and is poised to rise to greater heights. Our specialized adolescent clinic, the WhizzKids United Health Academy, is setting the standard for sustainable, holistic healthcare for adolescents.
