The UFOSA Foundation is a non-profit organisation set up to assist the underprivileged of South Africa in education, family wellbeing and health.
Our aim for 2011 is to get as many of the 30 libraries as possible in our program up and running. We have already received our next shipment of books which are waiting to be taken to the next school. We urgently need funding to assist us with this project.
We managed to launch our first library in Cape Town in June 2010 at the Red River Primary School in Manenberg which was a huge success. Article available on request.
Education:
The 30 schools in the programme are to get a 1,000 book library made up of books donated from schools linked with them in the UK and in the USA as part of our DONATE A BOOK campaign.
Family Wellbeing:
The UFOSA Foundation is assisting by building 30 relieve abuse and HIV / AIDS centres for women and children at our 30 communities across the nation over the next 5 years. The centres will offer accommodation, counselling, medical care, school overflow facilities, even legal advice, job training as well as providing employment and the empowerment of women.
Health:
Linking with 30 hospitals and hospices, UFOSA will assist in caring for the sick and the elderly by seeking to provide needed equipment for a new construction. Even those who are reaching the end of their lives, be they young or the elderly, desperately need help since the standard of care available as they pass on is often minimal.
