The Stephen Green Foundation is an autonomous body, non-political, non-profit making and founded on Christian principles to promote all aspects of child care with specific emphasis placed on the children’s interests.
What is our purpose?
- To provide a properly constituted and credible body to achieve the aims and goals of the Foundation.
- To provide continuity and promote confidence in the Foundation’s projects and objectives.
- To promote all aspects of the provision of facilities for the care of children in need.
What are our main Aims and Goals?
- To be directly involved in the care of children in need and the provision of facilities, training, education and tender loving care.
- To promote and assist with providing guidance, training and education for all young people, in aspects that will improve their spiritual, moral, social and physical skills and knowledge, thereby helping to prevent troubled young minds.
- To promote and assist with providing guidance, training and education for adults in aspects of child care that are presently under-emphasised or neglected.
- To promote all aspects of children’s rights, and in particular their right to protection from abuse of any kind by adults and their right to loving care.
We are an independent, Christian based organization with a ministry of care for children in need of care and assisting their families where practical.
We operate a home for providing residential care for children in need in the Hoekwil area and have been doing so for the past 17 years. During that time we have achieved the following:
- Provided a home in residential care for 49 children, boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 19.
- Provided financial support for 73 children.
- Provided medical care to 57 children.
- Provided specialized medical care (psychological) to 8 children.
- Provided special counselling and guidance to 65 children.
- Provided Spiritual guidance to +/- 253 children.
- Provided on-going support, help and guidance to 29 families.
Beside the service that we provide in our home, we also work with children and families outside, in their own environment, and presently help a number of families by providing transport to school and back for their children.
We are totally dependant on the provision of the Lord for all our financial requirements. We receive no assistance from the State whatsoever.
We have various urgent needs:
1) Our only means of transport, a 1995 Toyota Venture station wagon is in need of comprehensive repair and overhaul and we simply do not have the funds to achieve this.
2) Due to the increase in the demand for our services, as well as the increase in pressure on Paddy in running the home, we wish to obtain the services of an assistant / housekeeper / housemother to assist Paddy.
If any organization/person is able to assist us in any way to meet our various challenges we would truly be grateful.
