Sithabile Drop-in-Centre

Sithabile Drop-in-Centre is a Non Profit Organisation which was started in 2009 by Thabile Lena Shongwe.

A need for a drop-in-centre was identified due the high levels of unemployment and poverty in Arlington. At the moment there are 60 children who receive food, most of them are from child headed households. Due to financial constraints they can only receive food on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There are also 10 orphans who live at the centre permanently (two are HIV positive). These children have been abused physically, emotionally and sexually.

We received a house from Transnet Property once the organisation was registered – it needs renovations but we are grateful for this donation. We would like to feed these 60 children on a daily basis at our new premises. These children have talents and a lot of potential which we would like to develop during school holidays (this will also help to keep them of the streets). In this way we can reduce the crime and teenage pregnancy levels in our area and help these future leaders in realising their potential.

We need assistance to get this project up and running. Any type of assistance will be appreciated.
