The Final Countdown is a musical journey that takes you on a ride through 6 decades of fashion, radio, music and above all ‘Rock ‘n Roll’.
The 50’s with greased hair, ice cream cones, the road house, stove pipe jeans, milk shakes and Elvis, Ritchie Valens, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, Shirley Bassey and Connie Francis.
The Swinging 60’s features some of the greatest music of our time from The Beach Boys, Roy Orbison and The Supremes.
In the 70’s everything from rock groups like Deep Purple to the disco era of Bee Gees, Donna Summer and Le Freak!
In the 80’s and we remember the movie themes like Dirty Dancing, Fame and Footloose, icons like Lionel Ritchie, pop bands like Depeche Mode and our own local SA sounds of bands like Savuka and Hotline.
The 90’s saw the creation of many diverse scenes in music but the decade was best known for girl groups like Spice Girls, boy bands like Boyz II Men, pop bands like Roxette and icons like Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin.
Lastly we arrive in present times and the year 2000 and beyond. We had Christina Aguilera ruling the airwaves and the rock scene saw hits by Mika and Kid Rock and let’s not forget the soccer world cup with songs like Waka Waka and Wavin’ Flag.
All this in aid of CHOC: Childhood cancer has a profound effect on everyone it touches. With empathetic support and the right information, it is possible to not only survive its ravages but end up stronger, wiser… and more compassionate. It is with this focus on compassion, that CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA was founded. As a countrywide organisation, they provide holistic support for children suffering from cancer and life-threatening blood disorders as well as their families.
