Ray of Hope – Imisebe Yelanga Babies Home

In September 2009, 'Ray of Hope' / 'Imisebe Yelanga' Babies Home opened its doors. Within days we had welcomed our first displaced baby with warm hearts and wide open arms. As a registered care facility, the home has approved facilities that can accommodate up to six little ones, from newborn to 3 years of age. On the whole, when the babies arrive they are often in poor physical health and require specialised care, including medical attention, balanced regular feeds, stimulation and loads of love.

Ray of Hope Babies Home is a non-profit organisation based in Glen Hills, Durban. The house parents are Richard and Rachel Uys, who have selflessly shared their lives with all the babies since the inception of the home. They also see to the day-to-day running of the home with the assistance of a competent team of day and night care-givers and any willing volunteers.

The vision of the Ray of Hope team is to provide an environment of complete hope and love for the abused, neglected and abandoned babies and toddlers placed in our care. Most importantly, during their stay with us, we guarantee that our nurturing environment gives these little ones a sense that they are special and their lives are significant. Thereafter, they will be placed with a loving adoptive family by Child Welfare.

Please contact us for further information or if you are able to offer any support, whether it be financial; toiletries; formula; food; volunteering; fundraising; DIY projects, etc.
