Quo Vadis is the Latin question: “”Where are you going?”" This is the strategy that we implement offering better options, directions, wise decisions and hope. Quo Vadis assists with the support (and function) of around 500 community members in dire need, daily. Quo Vadis is a faith based, non-profit organisation driven by people with a passion for caring. We believe that people can be equipped and transformed by ‘the renewing of their mind’ and that caring is a heart with its gloves on!
Educating teenagers on drugs and alcohol abuse, which leads to crime and eventually death. Our youngest addict at only 9 years old, to our oldest gentleman of 71. We assist the disabled with wheelchairs, crutches, prosthetics, food and clothing items and personal care. We have a large number of disadvantaged elderly with basic needs ranging from medication and transport to clothing and food items. Sadly, this number is growing rapidly!
Single and under aged mothers are a growing concern for us. A safe-house facility is the most cost effective resolution with a controlled environment. It is extremely costly for us to be able to effectively house, feed and equip these mothers. Quo Vadis offer personal counselling and the building of self- confidence. Our sponsors enable us to educate them on integrity, discipline, personal responsibilities, money management and budgeting.
We have been ‘Care Givers’ for the past 8 years believing that every individual has the right to shelter, food, clothing, medical assistance, legal representation and the opportunity to progress. Quo Vadis works in conjunction with The Department of Social Welfare and Development referring extreme cases to specialists with FAMSA, Child Welfare, SAPS Bosasa, SANCA, Life Line, etc. We have a walk-in centre in Burgershoop at the Krugersdorp Community Centre, approved by the relevant institutions, sharing with the Community Legal Right Organization.
Quo Vadis’ function is the re-direction and the re-integration of dysfunctional individuals (due to circumstance) back into society; equipped as functional, independent and contributing members. In addition, the daily running cost of the organization (fuel, office stationery, etc.) is increasing as the public demand increases.
