Mission: Sustaining and upgrading Africa’s liveliness through the dynamics of Spatial technologies, while shaping our landscape with substantial and spatial clued-up solutions and to be an advanced transforming geospatial platform of Africa’s young generations.
Objectives:
- To be Africa’s continental platform of learning and acquiring knowledge about GIS (spatial) technologies.
- To engage learners and deepen the knowledge of GIS technologies through awareness, debates, presentations, campaigns and education.
- To provide learners with information about the geospatial industry and its operations.
- To participate and contribute to global initiatives in building capacity of geospatial industry.
- To liaise and partner with organizations, municipalities, government, and private sectors which are geo informatics enlightened.
- To organize workshops, debates, presentations, talk shows, educational trips which are aimed at geospatial activities.
- To launch investigative projects and present them as an idea of resolution through GIS dynamics.
- To establish mechanism and to promote Africa’s youth to exchange data.
- To create content GIS glossary for high schools.
- To provide network between learners, scholars, international innovative capacitated institutions and Grant Institutions for Africa’s geospatial career pathways.
- To be Africa’s priority through GIS dynamics in addressing key issues such as HIV/AIDS (Health), poverty, climate change, natural resource management, environmental management, education, agriculture (food security), biodiversity, population census, landuse, landcover, air pollution, mining and crime.
- To support individual projects at the middle school, secondary school, and university levels to advance geographic learning and to help demonstrate various approaches to sustainable development.
- Provide students with the necessary technical resources to learn about sustainable development issues and present them to international leaders.
- To raise awareness of the importance of geography and GIS as effective instruments for sustainable development.
- To students, communities, policy makers, decision makers and others.
- To bring the concepts promoted by international efforts, such as the World Summit on Sustainable Development to local, grassroots levels.
- To recognize the innovation and creativity of our youth toward building a more sustainable future through exhibition of projects at important regional and international venues.
Goals:
- To enable all educational departments in rural and in urban areas to effectively use GIS Technology to tackle service delivery and response to citizen request in secondary schools.
- To expand accessibility to GIS by implementing integrated educational adequate GIS programs and Projects.
- To continuously provide management support to foster the diffusion of GIS.
- To provide timely, accurate, and meaningful GIS knowledge to learners.
- To provide training and education materials for all levels of GIS secondary schools users.
- To promote the use of GIS technologies in secondary schools and tertiary levels, which will result in continuous efficiency and increasing productivity in our communities.
- Through GIS / Spatial technologies we intend to portray and mission a permanent persistent proper progress which will reflect Africa’s vivacity in all spheres.
