Noluthando Training Industries

NTI is an accredited non-profit organization in Khayelitsha. Our main aim is to alleviate poverty through vocational skills training and entrepreneurship development.

We provide training and job placement support in bricklaying, welding, carpentry, sewing, and computer literacy for unskilled and unemployed people. We are a Christian based organization which continuously strives for excellence.
NTI is affiliated to Mfesane, a well-known and respected non-profit organization. Mfesane has an excellent track record of human development since 1975.
NTI is governed by a board of directors. It was registered as a section 21 company in 1995, has 18(a) status, and is accredited by MERSETA.

We give our trainees the opportunity to discover and develop their God-given potential to fend for themselves and their families. We have trained 979 students and placed 499 in jobs since 2006. This year we plan to train 434 students and to place at least 217 in jobs.

Our objectives:
1. To address the socio-economic imbalances in the disadvantaged communities in and around Khayelitsha.
2. To provide subsidized skills training in sewing, welding, carpentry, bricklaying and computer skills to 434 trainees.
3. To registered all trainees on the JBS database and to place 50% in jobs, to monitor the progress of all ex-trainees registered on the database
4. To encourage self-employment and starting own businesses, assist them to register their businesses and to become employers.

Monitoring and Evaluation:
All activities of the VTC (Vocational Training Centre) and JBS (Job and Business Centre) are monitored by the Programme Manager. Instructors at the NTI as well as external service providers submit weekly activity reports to the Programme Manager and participate in monthly staff meetings. The Programme Manager also randomly visits and sits in on training courses and invites independent assessors from relevant sectors to evaluate the quality of training as well as the progress made by students during the course of the training programmes.

Many people living within the informal settlement on the Cape Flats are poorly educated and unskilled, but they want to improve their situation. We offer them the opportunity to get valuable skills to earn a living in the formal or informal sector of the economy. NTI has a holistic approach to training and we include life skills, business skills, HIV / Aids workshops and other relevant courses into our training programmes.

We are working hard to give people back their dignity, respect and the opportunity for developing their God-given potential. The result is that we have waiting lists of people wanting to attend our courses, but we need organisations to partner with us by investing in NTI. Although we do our best to become self-sustaining (offering accredited training to the Department of public Works and other companies at a market-related fee), we still need your financial support to run our projects at the professional level we are.

Your support for this project and your partnership in NTI would be deeply appreciated. We trust that you will consider supporting us and we are looking forward to hear from you soon.
