MOSAIC (Mothers of South Africa in Community)

MOSAIC (Mothers of South Africa in Community) is a community sewing project. We take unemployed and unskilled women with young children off the streets and teach them to sew.

We provide training in sewing and business skills, eventually encouraging the women to leave the project and start their own business. We set them up in their homes in their communities with sewing machines and support to run their own business, thereby making space for new ladies in the training programme.

We provide 2 warm meals a day and childcare. We also pay them during training. They make the most beautiful children’s clothing, including Princess and Fairy Dresses, dresses for weddings and special occasions and everyday funky, fun, easy to wear cotton clothing. You can support us by buying our clothing or by making donations towards training of a new lady.
