Mathyszensloop Youth Organization was started in early 2010 by the youth of Mathyszensloop (primary, secondary, tertiary students and working class in various careers) with the aim of helping the youth to succeed in their academic, social and professional life.

As the youth of Mathyszensloop we have felt the need to form this organisation after realizing, recognizing and experiencing challenges in our communities such as unemployment, poverty, underdevelopment, and many diseases such as HIV, AIDS, TB, etc. It is a community that is also faced with other challenges such as poor performance at high schools, crime and illiteracy. These and many other challenges is what have driven us to form a structure that would put together the effort and academic knowledge of primary, secondary, tertiary students and working class in various careers, in order to curb the level of youth misery witnessed in our community.

Therefore MAYO as an organisation of the youth, is determined to help the youth of Mathyszensloop and its surrounding communities succeed in life through activities such as exposing the youth to tertiary institutions, assisting students with admission to various universities, tours to open days at universities, motivational seminars, career expos, etc.

We have recently embarked on an activity of supplying the students of Dumeleni High School with information about bursaries and universities’ admission and registration details. As MAYO we are also committed to developing young people through commonwealth, empowerment, leadership, roles in everyday life, socialization, rights, believes, heritage and sexuality.

As the organisation of youth, by the youth, for the youth we will strive to be an information centre for the youth that brings change in the community through development by our services. We will also strive to ensure that works done by the MAYO are spread over to include other nearby communities and create a sense of youth fraternity amongst those in the community and those out.

The economic and social empowerment of the community remains the sole reason for the foundation of this NPO.
