LESEDI is an organization that was established after identifying a need for a movement that will address a challenge regarding social issues. It is therefore a call to bridge a gap that is created by the apartheid system that left a majority to be illiterate, impoverished and previously disadvantaged. We are a non political structure yet engage issues of all aspects since we believe that everything that revolves around is politically influenced.
Our aim is to capacitate our participants with the necessary knowledge, skills enhancement and resources development initiative to make use of available opportunities to accumulate more where and when necessary for themselves and communities they live in. We believe if people are properly engaged and actively participate in development processes aimed for them they will be capable of taking the little they have and use it to create more, thus getting opportunities to create jobs and result in them getting empowered.
A movement for the youth / community that seeks to address the Arts, Culture and Heritage, Business and Economic, Education, Health and Environment, Information Communication Technology and Social, Sports and Recreation challenges that are faced by the youth and the community on a daily basis by bringing them together through a network of a social group LESEDI. The organisation accommodates youth from all walks of life focusing more on people from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, namely townships advancing steadily to the remote / rural villages within South Africa.
The focus is basically on cutting edge issues / matters such as job creation, career development, business skills, leadership capacity building, etc that will play a positive role with regards to community development. The journey aims at encouraging, empowering and capacitating people who almost if not at all lost hope or any of the life’s elements such as courage, determination, dignity etc.
We are a Nonprofit Organisation that is dedicated at empowering the youth, women, children and the elderly. We believe that we are not just the leaders of tomorrow by passively waiting for that tomorrow to unfold but instead we are in a process of continual preparation, such that when that tomorrow comes we are ready to take charge as leaders. Ours is to create a track record that will surpass other organizations of our calibre within the boundaries of South Africa yet at the same time in liaison / collaboration with them.
We theme all our activities with a quotation ‘Think globally, act locally’ since we believe that our solutions should be distinctive in nature and effort in the process of thinking was engaged. Therefore we based our strategy on research, inclusive participation in identifying resources and opportunities at our disposal and make use of them so that they work for us. We hope to collaborate with a variety of organizations such that we tackle issues using a multi-disciplinary team approach to make our objectives to be achieved in an effective and realistic ways.
