Kanana Mental Health Care Centre was established in June 2001 by Lydia Ngubane who worked as a nurse for 25 years. Kanana caters for the mental ill patients who suffer from schizophrenia, bipolar mood disorder and uncontrollable epilepsy. Kanana provide care in a form of accommodation and a rehabilitation program.
