For a number of years, a group of family members were involved in aiding and supporting various community initiatives. In particular, the focus was on feeding and education. Since 2008, the Kalson Armugam Foundation (KAL) was established and registered as a non profit organisation with the Department of Social Development.

The organisation’s main objectives are to:
Expand the circle of abundance thereby reducing poverty and being dedicated to bringing innovations in technology and learning to the larger community.

The organisation’s secondary objectives are to:
- Work in collaboration with other organisations that mainly deals with poverty eradication and education.
- Supporting HIV / Aids orphans.
- Enhance the quality of life by creating spiritual awareness.
- Provide a funding vehicle for competent disadvantaged learners who wish to pursue studies in the field of mechatronics.
