Help the Children Fund was formed because of a lack of research in the communities in order to find out the real needs, and hence come up with the project.

Out of a thorough research which was done in the communities, we found out that there is very poor nutrition in the informal settlement communities. We found out that in the informal settlements most residents are young mothers with no education or no formal education while also unemployed. We found out that their children are lacking the most important element for children to grow and develop well. The nutrition is very poor.

Hence the main focus of the organisation is to make projects in these communities to address the most basic needs. Firstly to address nutrition by making projects which will not only give the communities nutritious food to feed the children who are mostly experiencing malnutrition, but also to educate these young mothers on the proper way of the children to eating well, to educate them on how they can sustain themselves by giving children nutritious food. This will be done by asking different experts, e.g. an agricultural expert, to teach them how to make their soil agriable and hence learn how to make food gardens. Other professionals important for the projects will be doctors and nurses to check the health of the children as most of these informal settlements do not have clinics nearby.

Another most important objective of the organisation is to work with the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children. Their different needs are looked into and hence come up with proper and beneficial ways to address their problems.
