Down Syndrome Association Western Cape is committed to finding ways to improve the quality of life of all persons with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, promoting the idea that they have the right to live with independence, respect and security as valued people and full citizens in our society. It endeavours to empower families through the dissemination of information, encourages research in the fields of early intervention, education, medical aspects, employment and civil rights.

WE NEED:
Office Administration:
- Laminator
- Colour printer,
- Air-Conditioner and
- Computer for Outreach

Building: (73 Van der Stel Street, Belville)
- Painting: Inside of building.
- Gardening equipment and plants.

Audio Visual:
The following equipment will be used for presentations in order to try and secure funding for the Association as well as presenting Workshops for Supportive Employment:
- TV,
- Video / DVD player, and
- Overhead projector.

Financial:
Monthly expenses include:
- Salary expenses, for a staff of 4, amounts to R10, 000.00 per month, thus R 120,000.00 per year (staff get paid for 4 hours per day. All other work is done voluntarily.).
- Day-to-Day running costs include: telephone bill, electricity bill, fuel costs, maintenance of our vehicle, stationary, groceries and cleaning lady (from our outreach programme), etc.

Outreach Programme:
- Nappies: New born to adult,
- Clothes: New born to adult,
- Blankets,
- Food Vouchers,
- Purity foods,
- Push cars (prams),
- Furniture (Beds, bed-side tables, cupboards, kitchen units, etc) and
- Shona buggies, www.shonaquiip.co.za (on the website go to Workshops and About Us.)

Training:
- Funds are constantly needed for training, e.g.
1) National Lottery: Application Workshop facilitated by Jetty Botes at the Sanlam Training Centre, Bellville on 7 & 8 June 2006, R 895.00 per person,
2) Planning for Sustainability Workshop facilitated by Anne Emmett at the Sanlam Training Centre, Bellville on 19 & 20 July 2006.

Printing:
The following printing work needs to be done:
- Z-folder flyers to create awareness,
- Yearly calendar, and
- News Letters.

Golf Day:
- We are looking for 'n primary sponsor for our Golf Day that will be taking place annually.

General:
- Educational toys are needed for the Toy Library,
- Paint, paint brushes, canvas, easels, clay, beads, wood, paper, glue, papermache glue, frames and any art equipment is needed for our Art classes held every Saturday.
- Over Locker machine,
- Curtains,
- Table cloths,
- Cups and sources, and
- Firm plastic Chairs.

"Nice To Have"
- Frothy machine,
- Coffee machine, and
- Pop Corn machine.
- TO BE USED AT OUR DANCES & ART CLASSES.
