Located in Cape Town, Common Good seeks to address issues of poverty and injustice through various initiatives and campaigns; each specifically designed to harness volunteer manpower and positively impact an area of great social need.
One of the main ways we do this is by running over 30 initiatives, many in partnership with well-run community-based organisations in the Cape Town area. Currently, we have nurtured relationships and established partnerships with over 18 NGOs, together covering a broad spectrum of social impact areas.
Our aim is to serve societies most vulnerable and marginalised, including those abandoned, sick, neglected, abused and disempowered, through these initiatives and in collaboration with our partners.
This includes, to name but a few of our initiatives, running:
- a literacy programme for children in under-resourced schools
- a job readiness programme for those seeking employment
- a support and care team for street people
- monthly recreational outings for children affected by HIV / Aids
- a bedtime reading programme at a children’s home
- a weekly support group for abused women
- a tutoring programme for under-resourced high school students
We also run annual city-wide campaigns which are aimed at supporting our partner organisations and raising awareness around specific needs.
These include:
- a winter clothing drive
- a special event for caregivers
- a Christmas gift drive for vulnerable children
- a three day challenge encouraging people to live below the poverty line as a way of identifying with those in need
Our vision is to see people flourishing economically, spiritually, physically and emotionally.
