Canaan Care Centres is a non-profit, interdenominational, multiracial, equal opportunity Christian organization that was founded in August 2005. We currently provide a day-care facility for children with intellectual and profound physical disability aged between 0 and 16 years. We are committed to providing those in our care with not only love and care, but also an educational and therapeutic environment where they can receive all the necessary therapy to meet their specific needs. In short, we provide the space for individuals to develop to their fullest potential, with dignity.

We would like to emphasize that we are a Christian organization, and while Christian values and principles are adhered to, selection for admission is non-discriminatory and in no way will those not of the Christian faith be prejudiced.

Mission: To contribute to the mental, social, spiritual, emotional, and physical development of individuals with disabilities by providing affordable places of safety, love and care.

There are a high number of individuals in East London and the surrounding areas with various forms of disabilities (from birth trauma, organic brain disorders or genetic disorders) who need a facility that caters for their high care needs, be this in the form of day care, respite care or residential care.

Canaan Care Centres was birthed from the recognition and determination of families and members of the East London community who acknowledged the distressing needs of, and lack of support for, families coping with individuals that have special high care needs in the greater East London area.

Canaan Care Centres aims to provide affordable facilities for the care and development of persons with disability; and in so doing, providing peace of mind and relief for the families of these persons; as well as providing employment and training opportunities for those who are called to work with these special people.
