Telkom and South Africans doing their bit
Making A Difference
It seems like Telkom is going to extend its sponsorship of the Telkom Charity Cup - this one-day event has been sponsored by Telkom since 2000. The proceeds from last year's event, R4.6 million, were recently distributed to 68 organisations.
South Africans Robbie Kojetin and John Black reached Mount Everest's summit recently. They climbed in order to raise awareness of lymphoma and to attract funds for the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation.
Alan Stuart and Chummy Swailes are pursuing a long time goal to walk all the way from Cape Town to Kosi Bay. They are hoping to raise between R500 000 and R1 million for Phakamisa (a Methodist Church non-profit organisation).
Introducing
The Namaqua Dog and Donkey Foundation is trying to improve the quality of life for domestic pets in informal settlements. They also focus on sterilizations, vaccinations and deworming of animals as well as educating the owners.

Windy Hollow Therapeutic Riding Centre focus on helping children and adults with mental and physical disabilities through equine facilitated therapy, to improve the quality of living for the disabled person, to make riding therapy available to previously disadvantaged communities and to offer an employment opportunity for people in the community.
