 | FOCUS AREA: South African Youth Sports (SAYS) is a newly established non-profit organisation that deals with youth sports programs for kids between the age of 5 and 18 years old, in rural areas and townships in South Africa. We also facilitate and ensure the training of persons involved with youth sports to enable sound youth sports management.
South African Youth Sports will be providing services to Schools and Communities. Success of this initiative lies on the 150% commitment of teachers, parents, children and SAYS volunteers. SAYS pledge their full commitment as they see the need for an initiative like this.
PROGRAMMES WE OFFER
There will be a number of programs that will be used to achieve our objective of providing children with physical activities that are safe, sports and health information that is accurate and reliable to increase their knowledge of sports industry and related areas like the following:
- Game On! Youth Sports program is design by International Alliance for Youth Sports in America, one of our international partners in youth sports. This program focuses on children between ages 4 to 7 years old and is design to introduce children to sport in a safe way and environment.
- Rocky Leagues for children aims to introduce them in organised amateur sports. The games objectives are to develop the skills and competition, so the games will be modified to suit the objectives.
- The Junior League will bring a little bit of competition but still focusing as well on the development of sports skills.
- Coaching, Parents, Officiating and Administration Trainings for all stakeholders involved in school or community sport, they will be trained in youth sports, dealing with different types of children, organising practice for a season, preparing for games, fitness and warm-ups and how to organise tournaments and fundraising.
- Play Like a Girl Program encourages girls to participate in sports activities and over coming stereotypes on girls playing sport. Provide necessary information on women and sports and advantages of women involved in sports.
- Equipment, Facilities and Sports gear will assist schools and communities to refurbish or/and build sports facilities, buy equipment that is safe and user-friendly for children. We will offer scholarships and sports gear to poor children so that they can take part in school and community sports as well. All of this will be done under our Sonwabile Fund.
