2nd Annual Dance Day fundraising event is a grassroots initiative that encourages the nation, young and old, to dance! Individuals, families, organizations and communities from across the nation come together through their creative expression in dance. The aim of this day is to raise funds, celebrate dance and use dance as a communication medium and convenient wagon to a healthy life style, also to create national awareness for dance, a medium of expression and storytelling which, through television shows like Dance You Butt Off, Step Up of Step Out, Turn It Out and So You Think You Can Dance and festivals such as Dance Umbrella, National Arts Festival and Arts Alive has proven its value in bringing individuals from all walks of life together through a positive platform that has no boundaries and cultivates imagination and passion.
On 31 August 2013 BEAM will launch the 2nd Annual Dance Day, this launch will be a good opportunity for our sponsors/funders and all potential sponsors to network and learn more about their investments in BEAM. This day promise to be a fun filled evening with world acclaimed dance companies performing for entertainment.
The 2nd Annual Dance Day will be celebrated on 21 September 2013 by dancers and all lovers of dance of all ages, religion and race. Five (5) professional choreographers will be appointed to teach all attendants a simple, fun and energetic dance routine which will be on different websites, blogs, social networks etc. to be learned by public members prior to the event. We are looking at having at least 10 dance companies / organisations which will be chosen through an audition process and invite 5 guest professional companies for entertainment. If possible we should have 15 different dance genres from contemporary, hip hop, Pantsula, Tap dance, Zulu dance, gumboots, Latin and ballroom to township dance.
